Teams and waypoints are in the 0.6.0 download. Survey pins and the Waymark compass are only in the development build.
Teams are like guilds or clans. Teammates see each other on the world map (M) and share waypoints. Other players do not show on your map: you see a player there only when you share a team with them.
Waypoints
Open the map with M. Right-click a spot on the map, or press Mark where I am, and name it. A new waypoint is private: only you see it. Open the Waypoints tab at the top right of the map to manage your waypoints.
| Pin | Kind |
|---|---|
| Gold, round | Yours, private. If someone sent it to you, its tooltip says who. |
| Sky, flag | Public: everyone on the planet sees it. |
| Square, in a team's colour | A team's: every teammate sees it, with who sent it. |
In the Waypoints tab:
- The filters show Mine, Public, or one team's waypoints, nearest first. Click one to pick it and centre the map on it.
- Rename, Delete (press twice), Publish / Make private.
-
Send: tick whole teams and people, then press Send.
- A team gets the waypoint on every teammate's map.
- Each person gets it in chat with [Keep] and [Ignore]. It also waits at the top of their Waypoints tab.
- To add someone, type their name. Tab completes it.
- Waypoints sent to you wait at the top of the list. The tick keeps one as your own private waypoint. The cross lets it go.
Each planet has its own waypoints. You can keep 100 private waypoints and publish 24 on each
planet. A planet holds 256 public waypoints, and a team keeps 100. At most 16 sent waypoints wait for one
player; the oldest is dropped first. In chat, [Keep] and [Ignore] run /waypoints keep <id> and
/waypoints ignore <id>.
Teams
Open the Teams tab, press New, and name your team. You lead it. You can be in up to 10 teams.
| Role | Can |
|---|---|
| Leader | everything: rename, recolour, promote and demote, remove anyone, make someone else leader, disband |
| Inviter | invite players (as member or guest) and remove guests |
| Member | see every teammate on the map and the team's waypoints; send waypoints to the team |
| Guest | see the team's waypoints and show on members' maps, but see no one; send waypoints only to people |
- Inviting: open a team, type a name (Tab completes), choose As Member or As Guest, then press Invite. The player gets the invitation in chat with [Accept] and [Decline], and in their Teams tab. It waits 10 minutes.
- The eye beside a team shows or hides it on your map: its teammates' arrows and its waypoints.
- Order: hover a team and use the arrows. A teammate who is in several of your teams wears the colour of the first one.
- Members: the dot is filled when they are online. Click a member for the actions your role allows.
- A leader must make someone else leader, or disband, before leaving.
Chat commands
Everything works from chat too with /teams: create, invite, accept, decline, leave,
kick, role, color, friendlyfire, rename, disband, list. For a team name with spaces, put it in quotes
when more follows it, for example /teams kick "Iron Goats" Billy.
Who shows on the map
- A teammate shows on your map when you share a team with them in which you are not a guest, and you have not hidden that team with the eye. A guest sees the team's waypoints but no one's position, though the members see the guest.
- Your arrow for a teammate wears the colour of the first team you share, in your own team order.
- Gold is left out of the team colours, because on the map gold means you.
- Players who are not on a shared team never show.
Friendly fire
Friendly fire is off in a new team. Teammates, their pets and their summons cannot hurt each other. The
leader can turn it on with /teams friendlyfire <team> on (or off). Where PvP is allowed, teammates can then
hurt each other. One shared team with friendly fire off is enough to keep two players from hurting each other.
Survey pins
The Delver's Survey (Sneak + Z, from the Calling at Adventure level 10: see Character growth) sounds the rock and pins every ore body in range on the map. Each pin is named for the ore and its size, such as "Iron Ore x34".
- Range is 48 blocks, and 96 at the Delver's second mastery. Survey pins at most 24 ore bodies.
- If you are in a team, the pins appear as team waypoints on your first team's map, so every teammate sees them. If you are in no team, they are private.
- A new Survey replaces your last Survey pins. They are made for you by the game, so you do not need to delete them.
- The same Survey also outlines the ore through the rock for you, for 10 seconds. It has a 60-second cooldown.
- A world with no map, or a dimension that is not a Hard Hoof planet, outlines the ore but pins nothing, and the action bar says so.
Waymark: the Pathfinder's compass
A Waymark is not a map waypoint. It is the Pathfinder's own technique (Z), and it shows on a compass at the top edge of your screen, not on the map.
- Z with no Waymark, or Sneak + Z, sets it where you stand. It costs nothing.
- Z with a Waymark starts a return: stand still for 3 seconds and you go back to it. Moving, a hit, or Z again cancels it, and nothing is spent. Claims and protections can refuse the return.
- A return works in the same dimension only, up to 1,024 blocks, plus 64 for every Exploring level (4,224 at level 50). It then needs 5 minutes before the next one, or 3 minutes from the second mastery. At the third mastery, allies within 4 blocks (teammates, tamed creatures, your mount) come with you.
- The flag on the compass shows which way the Waymark lies: straight ahead at the middle, behind you at the edges. Under it you see its distance and your reach, as "distance / reach m". The flag is green while a return would reach it. It is red when it is too far, and it reads "other world" when the Waymark is in another dimension.
- On a looping world, distance and bearing take the short way round. Crossing the world's edge does not make the Waymark jump, and the reach check and the storm marks on the same compass follow the same rule.
- Storms, blizzards and tornadoes within 384 blocks also show on that compass for a Pathfinder.
Try it
- Press M, right-click the map and name a waypoint. Only you see it.
- Open Teams, press New, name a team, and invite a friend as a Member.
- Open the waypoint, choose Send, tick the team, and press Send. It appears on your friend's map in the team's colour.
