Module: Hard Hoof: Tech (hardhoof_tech)
Electric Furnace I smelts any vanilla furnace recipe on Hard Hoof 24 V DC instead of burning fuel. Tier I runs one lane. A Tier Kit rebuilds it as a higher tier in place: each tier adds a lane, smelts about 12% faster and draws about 8% more per lane. The furnace keeps running exactly as if you had stayed when its chunk unloads.
Workshop recipe
New in the development build. Electric Furnace I takes a Hearth Casing, 2 Heating Coils and 1 furnace, built at the Machine Workshop. A Heating Coil is 6 copper wire, 2 bricks and 1 iron plate (makes 2). See Tech tiers. The 0.6.0 download uses an older pattern with resistors; JEI shows your build's recipe.

Power and work
| Quantity | Value |
|---|---|
| Lanes | 1 |
| Time per item | 160 ticks (8 s) |
| Draw while smelting | 40 W |
| Energy per item | 320 J |
| Internal buffer | 80 J (~2 s of work) |
| Power terminal | Rear only |
All busy lanes are paid together each tick. If the buffer and live supply cannot cover the draw, no lane advances and no energy is spent. Status includes smelting, no power, idle, output full, and paused.
Hard Hoof DC is not Forge Energy / FE. See Electricity & Wiring.
Slots, faces, UI
One input and one output on Tier I. The input only accepts items that have a smelting recipe (on a live server).
Default item ports:
| Face | Mode |
|---|---|
| Front | Off |
| Rear | Off (power terminal; no item handler) |
| Left / Right / Top / Bottom | Both |
Pipes and hoppers may fill inputs and empty outputs on faces set to Input, Output, or Both. The furnace does not push. Port modes are player-configurable like the Metal Former — Machine Interfaces.
The screen shows progress, status, watts, and stored joules. Jade reports the same power strip language as other Tech loads.
Device bus
Kind: electric_furnace. Reach it from a Terminal over data cable (or by touching a non-screen face).

First example
- Place the furnace facing the work area; cable 24 V into the rear.
- Feed Coal Generator power (gauge that can carry the load — wiring).
- Put raw iron in the input (or pipe into a Both / Input face).
- Take iron ingots from the output when progress finishes.
Common failures
- No power: cable not on the rear, generator idle, or brownout on a thin/long run.
-
Idle with ore: output full, recipe missing, or
enablefalse. - Hopper on the back does nothing: rear is the power face, not an item port.
- Mid-smelt stall: buffer emptied and supply dropped — work resumes when power returns.
