HARD-HOOF

Materials & components

Alpha

Status: Implemented in source for Hard-Hoof 0.4.0-alpha.1; in-game verification is not established by docs alone.

Hard-Hoof's opening technology uses formed metal parts, placeable copper wire, circuit parts, and rubber. Shared items such as plates, wire, gears, and rubber belong to hardhoof_core; machine-specific electronics parts belong to hardhoof_tech.

Formed metal parts

The Coal-Powered Metal Former burns coal directly and provides all three initial formed parts:

Input Output Active work time Output ID
1 iron ingot 1 Iron Plate 8 seconds hardhoof_core:iron_plate
1 copper ingot 2 Copper Wires 8 seconds hardhoof_core:copper_wire
4 iron ingots 1 Iron Gear 12 seconds hardhoof_core:iron_gear

Iron plates, copper wires, and iron gears are registered in the conventional #c:plates/iron, #c:wires/copper, and #c:gears/iron tags. They build the Machine Workshop, Coal Generator, Small Electronics Lab, and Electronics Frame.

Copper Wire is both an ingredient and the item used to place Hard-Hoof cable. Its selected gauge is stored on the item. See Electricity and Wiring for gauge limits, placement, and insulation.

Chemistry and boards

Smelting one dried kelp for 100 ticks (5 seconds) produces one Salt and 0.1 experience. In the Small Electronics Lab, one salt, one iron ingot, and one water bucket produce one Etchant after 80 powered ticks; the empty bucket remains. That process uses 6 W while active.

The lab turns one Blank Circuit Board, one Etchant, and the exact loose parts required by the current design into one non-stackable Etched Circuit Board after 100 powered ticks. The board stores its actual circuit design. Gate testing uses component samples without consuming them; PCB manufacture consumes the aggregate parts only when the finished board completes. See Circuits and Gates.

Rubber

One Raw Latex smelts for 200 ticks (10 seconds) into one Rubber. Rubber insulates a placed copper wire and is returned when that insulated wire is broken. Rubber trees, tapping, renewable saplings, and natural biomes are covered in Rubber.
